Thanksgiving Blessings

Using quilts for holidays....

makes decorating fun and festive!

Use on shelves, ladders,

tables or over the back of the couch.

Using quilts as table toppers

adds color and variety

to your holiday tradtions!

This quilt is an original quilt design

called Pumpkin Sky it has been a favorite.

Using traditional blocks

in fall colors creates a unique quilt.

This quilt was made

from a neighborhood quilt group

as a block exchange.

Extra blocks were left-over

so they became a label on the back of the quilt!

MIXED BLESSINGS

This is a fun idea

for your Thanksgiving Dinner table favors.

Each is filled

with the items listed below,

wrap in celophane bags

and tie with ribbons and bows,

place card on each

with the Thanksgiving message attached.

If you would like to stop by

and pick up a card with the message attached

so you can make your favors

we have a sample ready for you to pick up

and make copies for your guests.

A Mix of Blessings

BUGLES: Each is shaped as a Conucopia or Horn of Plenty to remind us of our ancestors and our heritage and that our lives are filled with blessings.

PRETZELS: They represent our arms folded in prayer to give thanks.

CANDY CORN: A lesson on Frugality. During the first winter the pilgrims were each allotted only 5 kernels of corn per day because the food was so scarce. The next year was a bounty as ours can be.

DRIED FRUIT: Thanksgiving is the celebration of the harvest from the field and trees. Preserve harvest for times of need and share.

NUTS & SEEDS: Seeds represent future hope and promise, the potential of a bounteous harvest for the next season if they are planted and well tended.

THE MIX: We are each given a unique combination of blessings. Give thanks and enjoy them!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

enjoy the holiday feast

and the time you spend with loved ones.

As a celebration we are having a SALE

on Saturday November 28th

beginning at 10 am -4:30 pm

BLACK SATURDAY SALE

entire store 20% .

Remember by Thursday evening

you will be stuffed, exhausted,

overwhelmed, bloated, achey,

and trying to find room for all the leftovers

but, know you are not alone...

this is just the beginning of what is to come....

CHRISTMAS!

Have a Good One! HaHa...

Yoyoville

Another work in Progress!

This quilt is not for the weak.....

although it is a lot of work it definitely is worth it!

As you work with the charm squares

they are cut down in circles...

which you use for the yo-yo's.

The clover yo-yo maker makes them quick and accurate!

This quilt requires you to make 197 yo-yo's....

so by the time you have made about 195

you're considered a true and licensed builder ...

qualified to construct a home for yoyoville.

Seeing this quilt in person made me realize...

it was a must have project!

The houses, trees and flowers bordering this quilt...

melts your heart!

Although the work required in applique

definitely makes this quilt not...

"A Quilt in a Day Project"

but it puts a smile on my face

every time I pick it up and

work hour after hour.

69x87

Cutting kits has also required a lot of time.

We have given a lot of variety...

using the Moda line from

" Simple Abundance"

while adding matching plaids, dots, florals etc.

to give more variety and color.

It is turning out to be irrestable

you'll just have to see it for yourself!

Completed kits are available

while they last ....

as the fabric is SOLD OUT from Moda.

Kits are complete and include background fabric, backing and binding.

Total Cost$189.95

Carne Asada

Pictured are the secret ingredients for this recipe...
Now not a secret...
Pinto Bean Seasoning
(found at Harmons Grocery Store on season aisle)
Carne Steak and Meat Seasoning...
found at Mexican Markets
(in St. George Three Amigos on Bluff Street)

Recipe:
Begin with Flank Steak
amount depends on how many your cooking for.
(I use the Flank Steak from Costco.)
Cut thin diagonally.
Season with above seasoning,
pinto bean seasoning and carne steak seasoning.
use generously .
also a sprinkle of garlic salt and course ground pepper.
Place meat in frying pan
with 2-3 tsp vegetable cooking oil.
Cook on high heat quickly
and remove meat
leaving dripppings in the pan.
Add finely chopped red and yellow peppers
and onion .
Again depends on how many you are serving.
I like to use the small bag of peppers from costco
and I use about 12 peppers
and 1/2 onion.
Fry in reserved juice from meat adding additional oil if needed.
When peppers are cooked to desired tenderness ,(I like them cooked extra like fajita mix)
add meat to pepper mixture.
You can also add a fresh jalapeno pepper if you like.
When complete serve with warmed tortillas,
sour cream, lettuce, cheese,
tomatoes, fresh salsa, avocados, etc.
This is a must try recipe quick and easy..
.OLE'

Who says a blonde white girl .....
can't cook like a Mexican Seniorita?

Happy Camper Vintage Quilt

Theresa, our machine quilter has a BA.....
(Bad Attitude).
JK
(Just Kidding).
This quilt is a machine quilters worst nightmare,
it could put them out of business
or just give her time to catch up!
WHEW!
Using 5"charm squares
cut a template....
and get the rounded triangle shape.

Simple and quick
this is our new idea for a camp quilt...
(who are we kidding?)
who likes to camp
we mean a quilt to use in the car...
on the way to the resort....
haha...
also great at picnics and ball games.
Because we used a Kaufman Denim on background
it is dark and durable.

Stitching backing,
batting and top squares...
which you have glued in place ....
means when complete the quilt is done and quilted....

One section of four completed squares...
when sewn together creates a quilt to measure 80x80!
Come in or stop by as we are a work in progress...
Watch for the completed version of the Happy Camper Vintage Quilt!
Competed Kits available....
place your order now as fabric is Sold Out from Moda!

Memories

Meet Maude Bently Broadbent
86 years old

During our Yard Sale Maude visited our shop.
She shared stories of her childhood growing up in this home..
which now is the home to Lazy Daisy Cottage
and all of us.
Maude mentioned many visitors
who stayed here in this house in the front bedroom
which is now the main fabric and cutting room
we often refer to it as the counseling center.
As we cut and stand around putting kits together
we discuss problems, questions,
concerns and everyone gives advice
while laughing and sometimes crying together.
She mentioned many special visitors,
President Grant and David O. McKay were a few.
No wonder why this cutting room feels so special.
We have often mentioned
if the walls in this old house could talk what they would share with us?
It was fun to think of all the great memories
in the past and how they continue to surround Lazy Daisy Cottage!
History continues to happen and it happens with
Lazy Daisy Cottage!

The Big Day

Yard Sale Crew

It took the whole crew to get ready for the big sale.
The bargains were incredible.....
with kits for only $30.00 .
If you missed out watch for our next big blow out in the Spring!

The early birds got the greatest selection!
The register outside made shopping inside
and out convenient and easy.
The deals were so hot ....
many asked if we were closing our doors.
The answer is definitely not!
Lazy Daisy is bigger and better than ever
Dana the owner loves to clean out the old and get in the new!

With the great prices outsid
we also had the entire store inside on Sale! WOW!
