Happy Halloween

Watch out for Spooks and Goblins...
Treats and Sweets are all Galore
so we have given you the tasty Halloween Treat...
Black Licorice Popcorn Balls.
This recipe is a Canadian Tradition.
You can add candy corns
or other holiday treats to the popcorn
before you roll into balls.
We will be open on Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm
so stop by and visit us
we will have a treat for you
and maybe even a little trick to show you.

Licorice Popcorn Balls

2/3 cup Karo syrup
2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp anise flavoring (licorice)
2/3 cup boiling water
2 tsp vinegar
Black food coloring
2 tsp cream of tartar
2 Tbsp butter
1/8 tsp. baking soda
8-10 cups popped popcorn
(more if desired)

Combine syrup, sugar, anise, water, vinegar, and food coloring in a saucepan. Heat to boiling. Add cream of tartar and boil untill it reaches soft crack stage. Remove from heat and add butter and soda. Stir together well. Pour over popcorn, coating well. Form into balls.
